 With the faltering ceasefire in gaza and the recurring political instability, violence and social urmoil in the middle east, this evening’s seminar wi ll trace the essence of the islamist revolution in the middle east and also offer strategic insights into the origins and legitimacy of resistance racticed by grassroots organisations such as hamas and hizbullah.

Was advisor to EU High Representative Javier Solana in the Middle East between 997 and 2003. He was involved in acilitating a series of de-escalations of iolence and military withdrawals in Palestine with Islamist movements from 000-2003 and the end to the Bethlehem
Church of the Nativity siege. He was a taff member of the Mitchell Committee nto the causes of the Intifada in 2000. He is Director and founder of Conflicts orum.
