The Cordoba Foundation, along with OR Books and the Muslim Community Association, held a booklaunch and panel discussion on 6th February in Whitechapel, titled, Complicit – Britain and Destruction of Gaza.

The event saw the launch of award-winning journalist and author Peter Oborne’s newest book, Complicity. With a capacity audience of over 300 filling the venue, a panel comprising of Jeremy Corbyn MP, Laleh Khalili (Iranian American Professor of Gulf Studies at University of Exeter) and Dr Anas Altikriti (CEO of The Cordoba Foundation), joined Oborne in discussing not only the theme of the book, but the entire theme of Palestine.

The panel, chaired by author and journalist Matt Kinnard, discussed all aspects of the term used as title for the book, with special focus on the role of the British government and media in aiding and abetting the Israelis who have been committing a genocide against Gaza for 28 months.

The panel outlined the roles played by various levels of British society, including the media, academia, industry, technology as well as politics, in supporting what is arguably the most gruesome war crime of our time. The panel also tied the genocide, to the latest revelations concerning the Epstein Files and the involvement of British officials, including Peter Mandelson, in what everyone agreed is an affair most sordid. It was noted how all those named to have been involved with these awful revelations, were supreme supporters of Israel and of Zionism, whether from their positions of authority or their positions of immense wealth.

The complicity of the Arab regimes in stunting any attempt of the Arab people to rise in support of Palestine, to persecute and prosecute those who display any support for Palestine, and to push forth with the so-called Abrahamic accord regardless of the genocide committed against their brethren in Gaza, was also discussed at some length.

At the conclusion of the event, the entire panel agreed that the world was witnessing a shift in public awareness, away from the Zionist driven pro-Israel narrative, and hence transformative changes on the Palestinian cause, as well as many other causes where people are oppressed, can been seen in the horizon. Everyone agreed that it was the formidable resilience demonstrated by the people of Gaza amid not only in the face of a brutal military attack, but a complicit international community, was the main driver for such a potentially remarkable change.
